   Employers must check if PPE fits the PPE regulations before giving it to employees. This means making sure the equipment works against the risks, fits properly, and meets safety standards.
4. Maintenance and Replacement of Personal Protective Equipment
   Employers must keep PPE in good condition, clean it regularly, and replace it when needed. Employers should establish a maintenance programme to ensure PPE remains effective throughout its usage.
5. Accommodation for Personal Protective Equipment
   Employers must provide a designated and appropriate storage area for PPE when not in use. This protects the equipment from damage, contamination, or loss.
6. Information, Instruction, and Training
   Employers must provide employees with proper instructions on how to use PPE correctly, including when and how to wear it, how to adjust it for proper fit, and how to care for it. Training should also cover the risks that the PPE protects against.

Rules for Employees

1. Use of Personal Protective Equipment
   Employees must use PPE as instructed by their employer. This means wearing it when needed and following the training and guidance provided.
2. Reporting Loss or Defects
   Employees must report any loss or defects in their PPE to their employer immediately. This helps replace faulty or missing equipment quickly, preventing health and safety risks.

What constitutes a breach of PPE Regulations?

A breach of PPE regulations can happen when employers or employees fail to follow the rules in the regulations. Now, regulations protect employees from risks in the workplace and if those rules are not followed, they will surely cause harm to both employers and employees.

Employers not providing PPE is an example of a breach. If this happens, an employee can be exposed to risk and danger in the workplace. Moreover, the employer can face fines and penalties from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and face legal action from an injured employee.

On the other hand, employees not wearing the provided PPE is also an example of a breach. In this situation, the employee is endangering him or herself, the people around and the reputation of the employer. The result of this action can vary for every employer. Some may give notice but some might be dismissed from the job.
